When we checked in at the white Swan I asked for a nice restaurant outside the hotel. The recommendation I got was to go for the Panxi restaurant, near a beautiful park. The advice was very good.
It was a very relaxed area with a lot of tour buses, apparently domestic Chinese tourists.
The entrance to the place was a complete restaurant complex.
There was a wedding outside, it felt like we almost got invited there. The couple were very happy to have their picture taken. I wonder if they know that they are now on the Internet...
Note that says that they have achieved top quantity in food hygiene. I wonder what that really means !?
The complex had a good bunch of restaurants.
There was a large pond outside.
All the food is kept live in order to assure absolute freshness. When you order, you simply pick some animals of your choice. Lennart volunteered for this task to select a good steamed fish and a snake.
There was even a floating restaurant in the pond!
The view of the restaurant.
Mia was very skeptic to the menu. Snake, can you really eat that ? I'm not in the mood for a birds nest either. Give me steamed fish!
I really love it said Lennart! Hmm, snake is probably worse than a birds nest so lets take that.
We got the famous 5000 year old egg for appetizer.
Here was an interesting task. The Gaul bladder from the snake was supposed to be good for you. You drink it with a Chinese local schnapps which tasted like terpentine.
Gambei!
Cheers mate...
