As a small excursion from Hong Kong we decided to spend two days in China. To make it easy we took the KCR railway (Kowloon Canton Railway) from Hong Kong. After some hassle with getting a taxi cab from the otherwise superior Ramada hotel in Kowloon we managed to get on.
This is a photo from one of the nice villas on Shamian island, the only part of Canton which was open to the outside world as China was a closed country.
Here you see a view from one of the many elevated road. The traffic jams are already really quite bad and they will certainly get worse. Check out this part as well!
Near the White Swan hotel where we stayed they had a large Chinese open market. You could buy most animals here, rabbits, turtles, cockroaches and chicken.
The most fun part was the snake restaurant called Pan Xi restaurant. Here you can see Lennart (and me + Mia) eating a snake and drinking its gault in terpentine!
Check out pictures from the Sun Yat Sen memorial park.
Nanshan ferry terminal. We took the bus from the White Swan hotel to this terminal, and then into Hong Kong.
