Here you can find the photos of Martin and Mias days at Bali June 1997.

First day in Sanur

We began our first day in Sanur on the south-east coast, just outside Denpasar. Sanur is a relativly relaxed area if you compare with Kuta, but still a lot of tourists and irritating sales persons trying to sell you transportation, imitation watches and other stuff. If you want, proceed directly to part2 or part3 of it!

Balinese dances

Bali is known for its dances. So here you can check out one - or part two of it.

We saw these dances at a restaurant near our hotel, the Palm Garden hotel. They were running dance shows every night. The trick to get good meal here was to order it before all the tour buses arrive, then you get personal food. We managed to get a spicy Balinese platter. I had been warned by friends that this could have been a tourist trap.

Driving from Sanur to Amed

Check out the whole story on the drive here. Or, begin with the first part showing photos from Giraya and Amed + Kusumajaya.

A rice terrace at Amlapura. This is taken on the drive from the southern part of Bali where it is a lot of tourists. The roads are not in very good shape and it can be difficult to drive. Nethertheless we managed quite well and as we reached the eastern coast there were very few tourists. By the beaches from here you will find great scuba diving and snorcelling.

Kalibukbuk

The Kalibukbuk village by Lovina beach in the sunset.

Here we spent two really relaxing days in the comfort of a nice hotel.

The Aneka hotel in Kalibukbuk. A luxury resort with no charm. But convenient and clean Look how Mia is enjoying the place! You can see our experiences here, the Dolphin tour or how we became TV stars!

Gitgit waterfalls

These waterfalls are just like any other waterfall, but because it is on Bali it gives you that special atmosphere. Here you can watch the waterfall, as well as our drive back where we ran into monkeys and a lot of rice-terraces.

Ubud

First we went to the Neka arts musuem, then to the monkey park and for a walk around this beautiful place. Also, check out our hotel, Ubud Village hotel.

Mengwi reptile park

Here you can read about the legend of Joko Tingkir which is a show with crocodile wrestling. Quite a cruel one actually. If you do not want to see the legend, go directly to the part where you can see me holding a live 20 Kg python! Or, just skip to the last part (but please do start with the legend).
